Fall Festivities

Fall in Vermont is absolutely beautiful with all of the multi-colored leaves on the tress.  Unfortunately, the leaves aren’t nearly as pretty when they are all on the ground turning brown.  What is fun is jumping in the piles of leaves (not the actual raking to get the piles though).

The hard part fell to Gideon, while Hadley had fun jumping in the leaves and I got to take the pictures.  Malia also had a lot of fun once she woke up from her nap.  Both Hadley and Malia “helped” with the raking, which meant taking leaves out of Gideon’s wheelbarrow to add more to their jumping pile.

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of the two of them together.

She would carry one leaf at a time up the hill to put in the wheelbarrow.  Then she would walk all the way down to get one more.

The next day we made plans with our friends Christy, Jimmy, and Kylie to go pumpkin picking.  The weather didn’t look very good in the morning, but the rain was supposed to stop around noon.  We delayed pumpkin picking with lunch and spending some time at the mall.  When the rain still hadn’t stopped, we decided to go anyway since we had already driven an hour to get to the pumpkin patch.

The rain continued through the hay ride and while we were picking pumpkins and promptly stopped after we were done.  Even though we were soaked, we had fun and Hadley and Kylie were happy to be able to play together.

They were weighing pumpkins for the Giant Pumpkin Regatta the next day

She was so proud to find a pumpkin she could carry

Still looking for the perfect pumpkin

Ready for the hayride back
