We Did It!

After only our 4th attempt in as many years, we finished the Great Vermont Corn Maze!  We knew this was our last opportunity since we would not be here next year.  We were determined.  I packed lots of water and snacks, a spray bottle with a fan, sunscreen, hats and Gideon’s Garmin watch that would track distance traveled.  We didn’t want to leave until we completed the maze or the kids just couldn’t handle it anymore.

We were the first ones in the maze, but far from the first ones out.  The girls did great with very little complaining.  I did end up carrying Malia most of the way and I gave Hadley a piggy back ride for five minutes for every half mile walked.  It took us 2.5 hours and 2.15 miles, but we did it.

We took one small clue, but it was more to confirm what I suspected.  We also teamed up with 2 teen boys.  After running into them three times we checked our punch cards and decided that we had been in the same areas.  We shared info and more than once we let them do some of the path checking as they were much faster than us.  In the end, we all finished together.

We love the corn maze.  It is one of the few things we will miss about VT, so if anyone is in the area looking for something to do go check it out.  You won’t regret it.
