Hadley is 4 Years Old

Dear Hadley,

What a year it has been. You have become so independent, determined, and busy. In the past year, you have started pre-school and dance class. You have continued with music class and play group, keeping you busy almost every day.

Through pre-school and dance, you have made a lot of friends and learned a lot of valuable lessons about sharing, taking turns, listening, and playing with others. You have always been so smart, but you have learned so much this year. Your knowledge of letters, numbers, and so much more never fails to surprise and impress me.

School is one of your favorite things. You always look forward to going and starting in the fall you will go full time. Dance is also something you love. You listen very well and are always one of the first to try a new step or move.

While you are great at sharing with your friends, you have found it more difficult to share with Malia. As Malia has gotten older and wanted to play with your toys, it has been harder for you. Even though you and Malia don’t always get along, you love each other so much. My favorite sound is the two of you laughing and playing together.

Your independence has made it easy for you to go to school and dance, but it has caused some problems at home. You are sure that you can do everything on your own and get mad or frustrated when we try to help you. It also causes problems when you can’t do something that you want to do. We never experienced much of the Terrible Two’s, but I’ve found that the Trying Threes are no joke.

We may not have always gotten along or seen eye to eye over the past year, but I’ve loved you every moment of it. I’ve loved watching you grow and develop even more of your personality. You are strong, smart, confident, kind, and so much more.

I love you so much, and I’m looking forward to learning even more about you.

Happy Birthday Hadley!
