Part 3: Animals, Veggies, and Spoiling

Our adventure continued as we went to my parent’s house.  The spoiling also continued.  The girls were thrilled to see Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Donavan, and Uncle Shawn.  They remember how willing everyone is to play with them, give them what they want, and talk to them nonstop (in the case of Hadley and Grandma).

While most of our time was spent relaxing around the house, there are always a few things we try to do while there.  One of those is visiting Uncle Donavan’s place to see his cows and horses.  In the past Hadley has always been a little timid around the horses, but this time she loved them.  She was excited to feed and brush them.  Malia wasn’t as interested, but she still got in on all of the action.

We also went fishing again this year.  Grandpa didn’t know if we would catch anything since it has been so dry and his pond was really low.  We decided to try anyway and after Uncle Shawn got some worms we headed down to the pond.

At first we weren’t having much luck, but soon Grandpa started reeling them in.  After twelve, we stopped counting how many he had caught.  Gideon wasn’t having quite the same luck.  He did end up with two (one with assistance from Hadley).  His second fish was the biggest of the day, until a few moments later when Grandpa caught one a little bigger.

Hadley caught three fish.  She described them as a little one, a pretty one, and a big one.  Malia helped Grandpa reel in one fish, but the rest of the time she was more interested in playing with the worms.  I can’t really blame her because when I went fishing I always ended up playing with the worms rather than fishing.

Grandpa has the most impressive garden I have ever seen.  I always look forward to his tomatoes and cucumbers.  Nothing in the stores comes even close to what my Daddy grows.  The girls seemed to agree as well.  Malia fell in love with his tommy-toe cherry tomatoes.  Grandpa had to go out to the garden every day to pick more.  Malia would eat as many as she could.  She also loved his green onions.  Hadley loved the cucumbers and tomatoes too.  Along with eating all of the yummy veggies, the girls had a lot of fun helping in the garden.

Grandma had bought the girls sprinklers to play in.  Since we have low water pressure, the girls had never played in one before.  They weren’t too sure about it since neither of them like getting water in their faces.  Both were very hesitant at first, but by the end they were running through the water.

Since Malia’s birthday is only a month away, Grandma decided to give Malia her birthday gifts early.  She also had a few gifts for Hadley that she hadn’t sent for her birthday in May.

The rest of our time was spent relaxing, playing, and eating.  Hadley loves helping Grandma in the kitchen, and Malia loved the ice dispenser in the fridge.  Malia also loved feeding Uncle Donavan’s dog Jinx treats and ice.

We had a lot of fun, and it was good spending time with family.  The girls love visiting their grandparents and uncles and always want to go back as soon as we leave.
